Tarkwa (W/R), January 31, – A
Tarkwa Circuit court has remanded two people into prison custody for stealing
forty pieces of unsown cloth valued GH₵4,000.00 and an amount of 500 Ghana cedis.
The accused persons, Joseph
Owusu, 28, mechanic and Kingsley Nyewu, 29, mechanic apprentice are residents
of Wasa Subriso in the Western Region.
They were charged with conspiracy
to commit crime, causing damage, unlawful entry and stealing.
The two, pleaded guilty with
explanation to the offenses, and would re-appear before the court on Wednesday
February 14.
Chief Inspector Faustina
Celestina Anaman, told the court, presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Bart-Plange
Brew, that the complainant, Diana Alare, is a seamstress.
According to the Prosecution, on
January 8, at about 0930 hours, the complainant who went to her shop located at
the Wassa Akropong market to begin the day's work realized that thieves had
broken into her shop and made away with forty pieces of unsewn cloth and an
amount of 500 Ghana cedis.
She said the complainant reported
the case at the Wassa Akropong Police station and an officer was detailed to
investigate the case.
The prosecution said the complainant
however started her own investigation and gathered that Joseph and Kingsley
were behind the theft and based on that she informed the police who apprehended
the two for questioning.
Chief Inspector Anaman said when
the police searched the places of abode of the accused 12 pieces of the unsewn
cloth of the complainant were retrieved.
