Accra, Jan. 15, – World Boxing
Council (WBC) International Batamweight champion, Duke Akuetteh Micah, has set
his eyes on world title before the close of 2018, saying "it is time for
Ghana’s name to be on the world map again".
Micah, who is currently based in
New York, United States of America (USA), after signing a promotional deal with
Real Deal Sports& Entertainment, owned by former Heavyweight champion
Evander Holyfield, is confident of taking on Ryan Burnett World Boxing
Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion, Colombian
Luis Nery - World Boxing Council (WBC) and South African Zolani Tete - World
Boxing Organisation (WBO), all in the Bantamweight Division.
“I have had many challenging
moments in the ring but I have always survived and came out successfully.
“For me it is all about blood,
sweat and tears. I’ve given my all for the sport over the years and I am
confident I can crown my efforts with a world title by the end of the year.”
Micah declared.
According to Micah, his promoters
are working around the clock to secure the fight adding that by the end of
February, an opportunity would present itself for him to win a world title.
“I have been training under
renowned trainer Kwame Asante, who has over the years prepared Joshua Clottey
and Joseph Agbeko for world title bouts and I know I can count on him.” Micah
added.
Micah has impressive record of
21-0-0-18(KO’S).
