Accra, Jan.15, - The defending champions for the Africa Cup
for Club Championship (ACCC), Eastern Company Club of Egypt, have arrived in
Ghana ahead of the ACCC tournament.
The tournament, slated for the
Theodosia Okoh Hockey pitch would start from the 20th to 28th of January, 2018,
with clubs from Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt and Kenya participating in both male and
female categories participating.
In an interview with GNA Sports
at the Kotoka International Airport, Mahmoud Hagdy of Eastern Company Club
noted of the teams preparedness to defend their trophy.
“We are happy to be part of this
championship again and we are looking forward to defend the title.
“We have worked hard in Egypt,
which has prepared us well for this championship and we would work hard here
also before the games start.” Hagdy said.
Hagdy, who plays at defence for
his club and the Egyptian national team noted of Ghana’s threat as they are
going to be playing at home.
“We know the Ghana teams are very
strong and play very well and moreover they would be playing at home, which
would give them an added advantage, but we are ready for them.” He added.
According to Hagdy the entire
team is prepared mentally and physically for the tournament because they need
to play more games in a short time coupled with the weather conditions in Ghana
currently.
The Eastern Company Club would
take on Police Machine from Nigerian on 20th January, 2018 at 13:30pm before
the opening ceremony for the championship on 15:30pm.
