Tumu (UWR), April 23, – Police in Tumu have arrested a suspected armed robber believed to be behind a string of violent crimes, including murder and armed robbery, in parts of the Sissala East Municipality.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Adusei Poku of the Sissala East Divisional Command said the suspect, identified as Tall Moumouni, was arrested on April 21, 2026, following intelligence-led operations.
He said officers acted on a tip-off that the suspect had been spotted at Kong community in the company of associates.
According to him, police swiftly moved into the area and successfully apprehended the suspect without resistance.
ASP Poku indicated that the suspect had been on the police wanted list in connection with multiple robbery incidents, theft cases, and an ongoing murder investigation spanning Wellembelle and Tumu.
He added that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest other suspected accomplices linked to the case.
The police command assured residents of intensified operations to clamp down on criminal activities and urged the public to support law enforcement with timely information.
