Baakoniaba (Bono), April 8, – United States-based non-governmental organisation Eli’s Well has pledged to expand access to clean drinking water in Ghana through the construction of additional mechanised boreholes in deprived communities.
Officials of the NGO, Mr Douglas Alley and Mr Jarred Stein, made the commitment during the commissioning of two boreholes at Baakoniaba and Yaw Sae in the Sunyani Municipality of the Bono Region.
Mr Stein said the initiative was inspired by his son Eli’s experience as a missionary in Ghana, where challenges in accessing safe drinking water motivated the organisation to begin drilling boreholes free of charge.
He noted that the project is funded through the support of donors in the United States, adding that the organisation remains committed to improving water access in underserved communities.
The intervention followed a request from the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II.
Mr Alley said the organisation was pleased to work closely with beneficiary communities and expressed optimism that the partnership would continue to grow.
Local partner Mr Ransford Antwi, Chief Executive Officer of the Suncity Group of Companies, said the organisation had so far supported the construction of 19 boreholes in various communities.
He praised Eli’s Well for its humanitarian work and described the initiative as a meaningful contribution to improving livelihoods in the region.
