Addressing worshippers at the Good Friday Miracle Service organised by the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches at the Black Star Square, he stressed that faith must translate into unity, integrity and service.
“Let our prayers be matched with responsibility,” he said, calling on citizens to contribute meaningfully to their communities and workplaces.
President Mahama noted that Ghana’s transformation depended largely on the character of its people, rather than policies alone.
“It is not the policies that will transform this nation. It is the character of Ghanaians that will make Ghana transform,” he emphasised.
He also encouraged forgiveness and reconciliation, urging individuals to resolve conflicts and demonstrate compassion in their daily lives.
“I beg you, when you leave here, call that person and say, I forgive you. Christ was generous and kind,” he added.
Reflecting on the significance of Easter, he highlighted sacrifice, hope and renewal as essential values, stressing that progress required perseverance and moral discipline.
“Before victory, there is sacrifice. You cannot be victorious without sacrificing,” he said.
President Mahama further urged Ghanaians not to lose hope, encouraging them to remain committed to doing good for the benefit of society.
“Do not get tired of doing good, because at the appropriate time you will reap the harvest,” he noted.
Touching on global issues, he called on world leaders to prioritise dialogue and restraint, particularly in addressing conflicts in the Middle East.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Ghana stands for peace, justice, and human dignity,” he said.
The annual Good Friday service attracted large crowds of worshippers from across the country.
