Hohoe United Pull Out of Premier League, Cite Bias in Disciplinary Sanctions

Accra, April 2, – Hohoe United FC have formally withdrawn from the ongoing 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League, citing what they describe as unfair treatment and bias in disciplinary proceedings involving the club.

The decision was conveyed in a letter dated April 1, 2026, and addressed to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with the club indicating that the withdrawal takes immediate effect.

Management of the club expressed dissatisfaction with a three-match home ban currently being served, describing the sanction as part of a broader pattern of systemic unfairness within the league’s disciplinary framework.

According to the club, the development had forced it to reassess its participation in the competition, leading to the decision to exit the league.

In the statement, signed by the club’s owner, Mr Tom Amewu-Duglu, Hohoe United acknowledged the opportunities provided by the GFA but maintained that the withdrawal was a matter of principle.

“We thank the GFA for past opportunities and wish the league well. This withdrawal does not mark the end of Hohoe United FC. It is a principled stand against injustice,” the statement said.

The club’s exit is expected to have implications for the league schedule and standings, subject to decisions by the Ghana Football Association.
