Accra, April 5, – Bibiani Gold Stars returned to the top of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League table after a crucial 2-1 victory over Nations FC, while Hearts of Oak ended their winless run with a narrow victory over Young Apostles in Matchday 28 fixtures played across the country.
Gold Stars secured the top spot at Dun’s Park in a closely contested match, with Samuel Atta Kumi opening the scoring before an own goal by Asante Boahen restored their lead after Razak Simpson had equalised from the penalty spot for Nations FC.
At the Accra Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak recorded a 1-0 win over Young Apostles, with Frank Abora Duku scoring the only goal of the match in the first half to move the Phobians into third place and strengthen their title hopes.
In the Bono derby at the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea defeated Aduana FC 1-0, courtesy of Emmanuel Ofosu’s strike, a result that boosted Chelsea’s survival chances while denting Aduana’s top-three ambitions.
Basake Holy Stars continued their impressive home form with a 1-0 win over Karela United at the AAK II Arena, where Bismark Teye scored the decisive goal to record their tenth consecutive home victory and move the side into seventh place.
Heart of Lions also secured a 2-0 win over Vision FC at the Kpando Sports Stadium, with early goals from Kelvin Asenso and Michael Ephson ensuring a comfortable victory.
Bechem United were held to a 1-1 draw by Medeama SC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Augustine Okrah gave Bechem the lead, but Salim Adams scored late from a free kick to earn Medeama a point.
In Swedru, All Blacks secured a late victory over Dreams FC, with Zayat Bubakari scoring the winning goal in the closing stages of the match.
The matchday began on a controversial note on Friday after Hohoe United failed to honour their fixture against Eleven Wonders at the Swedru Stadium, citing what they described as systemic unfairness in the competition. Eleven Wonders were subsequently awarded three points and three goals.
The final match of the round will see Asante Kotoko host FC Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday, April 6, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
After Matchday 28, Bibiani Gold Stars, Medeama SC, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko occupy the top four places, while Young Apostles, Hohoe United and Eleven Wonders remain in the relegation zone.
