Accra, April 8, – Former Minister for Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, has been released from the custody of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following a judicial order.
Mr Ofori-Atta had been held at the Caroline Detention Facility near Bowling Green, Virginia, since January 2026 over issues relating to his immigration status in the United States.
A statement issued by his lawyers, led by Justice Kusi-Minkah Premo, confirmed that he has since rejoined his family following the release.
The legal team said Mr Ofori-Atta remains committed to pursuing due process in line with his constitutional rights under U.S. law.
They expressed gratitude for public support and prayers received during his period of detention.
