Accra, April 17, – The Ghana Police Service has declared three persons wanted in connection with the robbery attack on a bus carrying Berekum Chelsea Football Club players, which led to the death of player Dominic Frimpong.

The move follows the arrest of two suspects, Mohammed Ahmed, 25, believed to be the gang leader, and Gideon Bawa, 30.

A press release issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Atsu Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, named the wanted suspects as Dauda, Huefe and A.T., who are currently on the run.

According to the police, the names were disclosed by the gang leader during interrogation.

The statement said the suspects were arrested through an intelligence-led operation by the Ashanti South Police Command, supported by the Police Intelligence Directorate Headquarters, the Anti-Robbery Unit and the CID Headquarters.

The operation took place on April 15, 2026, at Atimatim in Kumasi, where the two suspects allegedly attempted to escape and opened fire on police officers before being arrested.

Items retrieved included a pistol loaded with two rounds of .32 ammunition, 11 BB cartridges, a locally manufactured firearm, pepper spray, desert boots, assorted mobile phones and a black pullover.

DSP Ahianyo said Mohammed Ahmed admitted involvement in the attack on the Berekum Chelsea FC team and other robberies, including incidents at Nkawie and a mobile money vendor attack at Fufuso.

He further named Dauda, Huefe and A.T. as accomplices still at large.

Ahmed is currently receiving treatment under police guard at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, while Gideon Bawa remains in custody assisting investigations.

Police have urged the public to provide information that will lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects, assuring that all persons involved will be brought to justice.
