Accra, March 3, 2026 – Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has received a delegation of Queen Mothers from Ga Mashie at her office in Accra to discuss pressing social issues affecting their communities.
The delegation was led by Naa Afipong IV, Paramount Queen Mother of Jamestown (Ngleshie Alata).
According to a statement from the Office of the Vice President, discussions centred on improving education outcomes and expanding sustainable livelihood opportunities in Jamestown.
Naa Afipong outlined ongoing interventions to address health challenges in the area and shared plans for a mobile library project aimed at promoting after-school reading and literacy development among children.
She also underscored the importance of widening access to vocational skills training, particularly for young people and women, as a pathway to economic empowerment.
The Vice President commended the Queen Mothers for their leadership roles in social advocacy and grassroots development, describing their contribution as critical to community transformation.
She encouraged continued collaboration with relevant state agencies to strengthen the proposed mobile library initiative and expressed appreciation for efforts to promote women’s economic independence.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also conveyed gratitude on behalf of children and families expected to benefit from the initiatives.
