Three in custody over killing of Liberian man at Sakumono

Accra, March 2, – Police at Sakumono have detained three individuals in connection with the killing of a 26-year-old Liberian national, Austin Tengeeh, in what authorities suspect to be a case of mob justice.

The suspects — Francis Amuzu, 44; William Adison, 36; and Vincent Adzikah, 34 — are assisting investigators following the incident, which occurred near the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) facility at Lashibi on February 27, 2026.

According to a police situational brief, officers responded to an emergency call reporting that a young man had been attacked by a group of angry residents who allegedly accused him of theft.

When the Sakumono District Patrol Team arrived at the scene, they found the victim unconscious with injuries to his head and neck. He was immediately transported to the Sakumono Community Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The body has since been placed at the hospital’s morgue, while police initiate the required diplomatic processes due to the deceased’s nationality.

Investigators believe additional individuals may have been involved in the assault. The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team at the National Police Headquarters is pursuing leads to apprehend other suspected accomplices.

Police say inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
