Suspect arrested over Spintex house break-in and theft

Accra, March 15,  – The Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a case of unlawful entry and theft at Spintex in Accra.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged on March 4, 2026, after a resident returned home around 1600 hours to find her house broken into.

According to a Police brief, the complainant reported that cash amounting to GH¢1,000 and US$22,350, along with other personal belongings, had been stolen.

Investigations led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Daniel Odai Afotey, at Labone Beach on March 11, 2026, based on intelligence gathered by the Police.

A search conducted in the suspect’s room resulted in the recovery of the stolen items as well as other suspected stolen property, including gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones and a television set.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the offence and mentioned an accomplice known only as “Ewonam,” who is currently at large.

Police say efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the accomplice.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, March 16, 2026.

The Police are also working to identify the rightful owners of the additional recovered items and have urged individuals who may have lost property under similar circumstances within Spintex, Teshie, Nungua and nearby areas to contact the CID Headquarters to assist with identification.
