Stage set for Stonebwoy’s “Torcher Experience” Independence Concert in Volta Region

Ho (V/R), March 5, – Preparations are complete for “The Torcher Experience,” an Independence-themed concert by Ghanaian reggae-dancehall star Stonebwoy, expected to draw large crowds in the Volta Region.

The event forms part of activities marking Ghana’s 69th Independence anniversary and is scheduled to take place at the Adaklu Youth Resource Centre. Organisers say the concert seeks to blend entertainment with messages of patriotism, unity and youth empowerment.

Born Livingstone Etse Satekla and founder of BHIM Nation, the artiste—who traces his roots to the Volta Region—is expected to headline the show with performances of some of his popular songs, supported by guest performers. The concert also coincides with his birthday on March 5, adding symbolic significance to the celebration.

Ahead of the event, Stonebwoy paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, to discuss preparations and the broader vision behind the initiative. During the meeting, the musician explained that the concert was intended to inspire patriotism among the youth and rekindle the spirit of national unity during the Independence season.

Mr Gunu commended the artiste for promoting the Volta Region and Ghana on the global stage through music and entrepreneurship. He described the initiative as an important platform for celebrating culture, creativity and youth development in the Region. The Minister also acknowledged the support of Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah‑Atokple for the event.

In a separate engagement, the musician visited the Adaklu Traditional Council at Adaklu Goefe, where he paid homage to chiefs and elders ahead of the concert. The chiefs conferred on him the traditional title Togbe Dunyo I, recognising his influence in music and his efforts to inspire young people.

The traditional authorities also announced the allocation of land for a proposed project named “Stonecity,” which they believe could promote tourism, youth empowerment and community development in the area.

Stonebwoy’s arrival in Ho attracted large numbers of fans and residents, many of whom gathered to welcome the internationally acclaimed performer back to the Region. He later visited local radio stations, including Global FM 105.1 and Volta Premier FM 98.1, where he interacted with listeners and invited them to the concert.

“It gives me joy to bring the Torcher Experience home first before anywhere else,” he said, encouraging residents and supporters to attend the show.

Organisers say security and logistical arrangements have been finalised to ensure a safe and memorable event, which many believe will highlight the Volta Region’s growing reputation as a centre for arts, culture and creative expression.
