Accra, March 19, — Parliament has expressed profound condolences over the deaths of two brothers in the recent microlight aircraft crash at Tema and called for strict adherence to aviation safety standards.
Lawmakers from both the Majority and Minority sides emphasized that private aircraft owners must comply with routine maintenance schedules and all safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.
Nelson-Rockson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, Majority Chief Whip, and Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader, issued statements on behalf of their respective sides, urging transparency, accountability, and prompt investigation into the crash.

Parliament insisted on a full, time-bound probe into the cause of the accident, highlighting the importance of identifying regulatory and enforcement gaps in the aviation sector. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims.
The tragedy, which occurred on Monday, March 16, 2026, has renewed public discussion about safety standards for microlight and light aircraft, often used for training or recreational purposes.
