NAIMOS commends UTV reporter for supporting anti-galamsey campaign

Takoradi, March 28, – Colonel Dominic Buah, Director of Operations at the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), has commended Mr Charles Egyir, a reporter with United Television (UTV), for his contribution to the fight against illegal mining activities in the Western Region.

He said the journalist had consistently used his media platform to highlight NAIMOS operations and bring attention to the destruction caused by illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

Speaking at the maiden NAIMOS Editors’ Forum and Quarterly Press Briefing in Accra, Col Buah described Mr Egyir as a committed journalist whose reportage had supported the Secretariat’s operations and public awareness efforts.

“Some media houses and persons have been helping our activities, and the highest applause goes to one Charles Egyir because he has been keen on our operations with his reportage,” he said.

Col Buah noted that the fight against illegal mining required collective national effort and called on the media and other stakeholders to continue supporting the campaign to protect the country’s water bodies and forest reserves.

He urged journalists to collaborate with NAIMOS by seeking accurate information on its operations to help promote transparency and public understanding of the Secretariat’s work.

“We appreciate the media and other stakeholders for their good works, and they should not hesitate to link up with us with all the information they need so that in success we can collectively win this fight,” he added.
