Man Arrested for Alleged Theft of Police Uniform, Pistol, and Cash

Accra, March 17, – An unemployed man has been remanded by the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing a police officer’s uniform, firearm, mobile phone, and cash.

Prince Terkpor, the accused, pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Mr Dennis Fummy. The court denied bail and remanded him in custody until April 1, 2026.

The prosecution, led by ASP Seth Frimpong and Inspector Priscilla Avorgah, opposed bail, noting that Terkpor was assisting police investigations into a robbery at Michelle Camp. Authorities assured the court that inquiries would be expedited to facilitate a speedy trial.

According to the prosecution, the complainant, Frederick Ablorh, a police officer with the Accra Regional Counter Terrorism Unit, resides in Tesano, Accra, the same area where Terkpor also lives and works.

On February 18, 2026, Ablorh returned home after night duty and visited his wife’s shop at Lapaz, where Terkpor was employed as an assistant. While the officer fell asleep, Terkpor allegedly tampered with a CCTV camera by removing its memory chip and stole Ablorh’s bag containing his police uniform, identity cards, service pistol, iPhone XR, and GH¢600.

The prosecution said Terkpor then fled the shop and sold the iPhone XR at Kwame Nkrumah Circle for GH¢400. He later checked into a hotel in Ashaiman and is accused of using the stolen pistol to commit a robbery at Michelle Camp before being arrested at his hideout.

During interrogation, Terkpor reportedly admitted to the offences, the prosecution told the court.
