Mahama cuts sod for Dormaa 24-Hour Market, inspects Jinijini-Sampa road on Bono tour

Dormaa Ahenkro/Jinijini (BR), March 19, – President John Dramani Mahama launched construction of Dormaa Ahenkro’s maiden 24-Hour Market and inspected the 80km Jinijini-Sampa road upgrade during a two-day Bono Region tour to assess, initiate, and commission projects.

At Dormaa Ahenkro, the 24-Hour Model Market—under the flagship 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme—will ease congestion and boost trade. “All 261 MMDAs get one, featuring shops, restaurants, clinic, police/fire stations, cold store, lorry park, vegetable section, daycare, and bank via the Women’s Development Bank,” Mahama said. Displaced traders gain space priority.

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II (Dormaa Paramount Chief, Bono Regional House President) praised cedi/economy stabilization and Bono roads, but flagged Burkina Faso’s seizure of local poultry eggs—Mahama pledged to consult his counterpart.

From there, Mahama checked the Jinijini-Sampa stretch (part of 119km Berekum-Sampa to Côte d'Ivoire border), asphalted by Rango Construction Ltd from prior bitumen for durability—target end-2027.

Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II (Drobo Paramount Chief, Bono House Vice President) hailed its cashew export role through farming communities: “A pivotal economic link—ensure timely completion.”
