Ghana condemns drone incident near Dubai airport that injured two citizens



Accra, March 11,  – The Government of Ghana has denounced a drone incident near Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates that left two Ghanaian nationals injured.

The Government described the development as a disturbing event that threatened civilian safety and critical infrastructure in the busy international aviation hub.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Ghana had been notified by authorities in the United Arab Emirates that the two citizens were injured following the drone incident which occurred close to the airport on Tuesday, March 11, 2026.

The statement stressed that Ghana condemned any action that endangered innocent lives and key infrastructure, noting that such incidents posed serious risks to public safety and global transportation systems.

“The Government of Ghana strongly condemns any act that endangers civilian lives and critical infrastructure,” the Ministry said, adding that such occurrences highlight the urgent need to safeguard civilians and protect vital international transport facilities.

According to the statement, Ghana’s Ambassador to the UAE had led officials from the country’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai to visit the injured nationals at the hospital.

The Ministry said medical reports indicated that the victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were expected to recover fully.

It added that the Government was extending the necessary consular assistance to the affected individuals and was maintaining close contact with authorities in the UAE to ensure their well-being.

“The Ministry continues to monitor developments and will engage the relevant authorities where necessary,” the statement noted, while conveying Ghana’s concern and sympathies to the injured citizens and their families.

The Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare of Ghanaian nationals abroad and providing assistance whenever required.

The statement also indicated that Ghana was supporting ongoing consultations at the United Nations aimed at securing a resolution that could help bring about a cessation of hostilities.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian nationals residing and working in the Gulf region have been advised to remain vigilant and comply with directives issued by Ghana’s diplomatic missions as well as local authorities.

The Government assured that it would continue to work closely with Ghana’s diplomatic missions in the Gulf region and provide updates as necessary.
