Construction begins on Kejebir–Mpohor road

Mpohor (W/R), March 10, – Work has begun on the 13-kilometre Kejebir–Mpohor road in the Mpohor-Fiase District of the Western Region, bringing relief to residents who have long complained about the poor state of the route.

The road, which links Kejebir through Mpohor to Adum-Banso, is being constructed by JUSTMOH Constructions Limited under the Government’s flagship Big Push Programme.

For many years, communities in the Mpohor enclave—an area noted for oil palm cultivation and mining—have struggled with deteriorating road infrastructure, making transportation and economic activities difficult.

During a visit to the project site, Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, expressed satisfaction with the contractor’s return to site and expressed optimism that the work would be completed on schedule.

“I am happy that the contractor is back on site, courtesy the efforts of our President, and we hope that work will be done within the agreed time frame,” he said.

He also thanked John Dramani Mahama for responding to the concerns of residents by ensuring the commencement of the project.

Mr Justice Amoh, Chief Executive Officer of the construction firm, said the project would involve paving the road with pavement blocks instead of asphalt as the final surface.

He explained that approximately 16 million pavement blocks would be used for the project, while crushed rocks for the base and sub-base layers were currently being produced as part of the preparatory works.

Mr Amoh assured that the company would adhere to the required quality standards and complete the project within the 24-month timeline.

Twaah Kwame, Safohene of the Mpohor Traditional Area, welcomed the development and pledged the support of the local community to ensure the successful completion of the project.
