Sunyani (Bono), March 15, – Imam Baaba Seidu Haidara, the Bono Regional Chief Imam, has advised Muslim girls and young women to avoid body make-ups and promiscuous lifestyles as the 2026 Ramadan draws to a close.
He noted that such practices, including pre-marital and unhealthy sexual behaviours, were inconsistent with Islamic values and risked bringing the religion into disrepute.
Imam Haidara expressed concern that these practices, which he described as foreign influences, were becoming increasingly common in Zongo communities and undermining Islamic teachings and traditions.
He also urged Muslim youth to refrain from acts of indiscipline, lawlessness and other behaviours that could tarnish the image of Islam as a religion of peace.
Imam Haidara particularly cautioned against reckless riding of motorbikes during festive periods, stressing the need for young people to prioritise their safety and wellbeing.
He commended Alhaji Issaka-Issa, a Muslim leader and Bono Regional Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for renovating the mosque to improve conditions for worshippers.
The renovated facility has been upgraded to a befitting standard and equipped with modern air-conditioning units and ceiling fans to enhance comfort.
Imam Haidara encouraged other well-meaning individuals to support similar initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure within Zongo communities.
Alhaji Issaka-Issa, popularly known as “Allah Bei Kwaana,” said the renovation was undertaken to provide a more conducive environment for prayers.
He disclosed plans to extend similar support to the ‘Dagomba’ mosque at the Sunyani Zongo in the near future.
