Accra, March 3, – The Headmistress of Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion Senior High School has rejected a police statement alleging that some of her students assaulted a student of Adisadel College.
Mrs Dorothy Adentwi-Hayford described the claim by the Ghana Police Service as false, insisting that internal checks conducted by the school did not support the allegation.
In a statement dated February 24, 2026, the Police indicated that six students of Aggrey Memorial SHS were alleged to have attacked Rexfird Owusu-Ansah, a final-year student of Adisadel College, after the final day of an inter-colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium in the Central Region.
The Police further alleged that the attackers took the victim’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH¢1,400 in cash and his shoes.
However, Mrs Adentwi-Hayford said enquiries by the school showed that the Adisadel student did not lodge any formal complaint at the Kotokuraba Police Station alleging an assault by Aggrey Memorial students. She added that none of the six students mentioned in the Police statement had been arrested or formally accused.
The Headmistress reaffirmed the school’s commitment to discipline and ethical conduct, stressing that management would cooperate fully with authorities to establish the facts. She said the allegations had unjustifiably dented the school’s reputation.
Mr Francis Boakye, Global Vice President of the Aggrey Memorial Old Students’ Association (AMOSA), corroborated the Headmistress’ position at a press briefing on Tuesday. He called on the Police to review their statement and provide further clarification in the interest of fairness and justice.
Mr Boakye also urged the school authorities to supply any relevant information regarding reported assault incidents involving Aggrey students to ensure a thorough and evidence-based resolution.
“AMOSA remains committed to upholding the rule of law, protecting student welfare and supporting a fair and comprehensive determination of the matter,” he stated.
