Accra, March 20, – The Ashanti North Police Command has arrested 12 robbery suspects in intelligence‑led operations targeting robbery networks across the region.
Police confirmed that three of the suspects—Jemini Usman (alias Babamu), Suleman Yasir Arafat (alias Obasanjo), and Ashaidu Sumbieda (alias Eyeshadow)—were directly linked to the murder of the Kusasi Chief of Asawase in Kumasi. A Toyota Corolla (GC 439‑21) believed to have been used in the crime was recovered.
The arrested suspects include: Abdalah Alhassan, Jemini Usman (Babamu), Aminu Iddrisu (0244), Illiasu Dauda, Majeed Issaka Jibril, Gafaru Ibrahim, Mohammed Mumuni (Mama), Tanko Malik (Bronze), Mohammed Bawa (Mallam), Dramani Musah, Suleman Yasir Arafat (Obasanjo), and Ashaidu Sumbieda (Eyeshadow).
During the operations, two suspects—Illiasu Bawa and David Aheto—sustained gunshot injuries and were pronounced dead. Police also recovered two AK‑47 rifles, a pump‑action gun, two pistols, and dozens of rounds of ammunition.
One suspect, Illiasu (alias Abodam), remains at large as police intensify efforts to apprehend him.
The Command stressed that the operations are part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on violent crime and restore public safety in the region.
