Accra, Feb. 26 – The West African Examinations Council has announced the release of provisional results for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates (second series).
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Council disclosed that the full results of 349 candidates, along with subject results for 496 others, have been withheld over suspected examination malpractice.
According to the statement, signed by Mr John K. Kapi, Head of Public Affairs, the alleged offences include collusion, impersonation, the introduction of unauthorised materials into examination halls, and attempts to obtain external assistance.
WAEC indicated that the affected results would either be released or cancelled after the completion of ongoing investigations.
Candidates can check their results online via the Council’s official website. Those with withheld results have been directed to the designated irregularities portal, where details of the infractions and further instructions are provided.
The Council also warned candidates to remain vigilant against fraudsters who may claim they can upgrade results in exchange for mobile money payments. It emphasised that its database is secure and that all results remain verifiable.
Institutions and organisations were advised to independently authenticate certificates presented to them by candidates through WAEC’s official verification platforms.
