Swedru School given 24-hour police ultimatum over assault incident

Accra, Feb. 24, – The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Swedru School of Business to produce students allegedly involved in the assault of a Obrachire Senior High Technical School student, a case that recently gained widespread attention on social media.

The incident occurred during the annual inter-colleges games between the two schools and has raised public concern over student violence.

Ms Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of the CID, issued the ultimatum at a meeting with management from both institutions on February 23, 2026. She said the directive is intended to assist police in conducting a thorough investigation.

She urged calm and cooperation, noting that non-compliance by the school would compel the police to take over the investigations to ensure that those responsible face the full rigours of the law.

COP Donkor emphasized that adherence to the ultimatum would facilitate swift and comprehensive handling of the case, highlighting the seriousness of the incident and the potential consequences for those involved.

Investigations have formally commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the assault and identify all parties implicated. The victim is reportedly receiving treatment.

COP Donkor reiterated the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to accountability, law enforcement, and the safety of students within educational institutions.
