Accra, Feb. 18 – President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday visited two survivors of the recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso who are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the victims were part of a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling on a truck when armed attackers ambushed them. The assailants reportedly separated the men, killed them, and set the vehicle on fire.
The President, accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, expressed his condolences and assured the survivors that government would fully cover their medical expenses.
President Mahama, who had earlier attended an official engagement in Takoradi, proceeded directly to the hospital upon arriving in Accra to interact with the victims and receive firsthand accounts of the incident.
Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the attack have since been buried. The survivors were repatriated with the assistance of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Authorities say all affected individuals are receiving counselling and the necessary support, while those injured continue to undergo medical treatment.
