Economy: Ghana's Growth Eases to 4.2% in November 2025 – GSS

Accra, Feb. 12,  – Ghana's economic growth slowed to 4.2 per cent in November 2025 from 7.1 per cent in November 2024, according to the latest Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG) released by the Ghana Statistical Service.

Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu attributed the moderation to weaker upstream petroleum activity and sharp declines in mining and quarrying, despite services sector resilience.

Sector Breakdown:

  • Services: 6.7% growth (down from 10.2%) – contributed 57.7% to total, led by digital communications

  • Industry: 0.4% growth (vs 6.2% Oct 2024) – extractives hardest hit

  • Agriculture: 4.1% growth (up from 3.8%) – fisheries and crops drove gains

"Ghana produced 4.2 per cent more goods and services in November 2025 than one year earlier," Dr. Iddrisu stated, noting the MIEG index rose to 122.7 from 117.7.

He cautioned that Q4 GDP (due March 2026) may fall short of targets, urging investment in oil and gas production.
