Dzodze (V/R), Feb. 12, – Three persons, including the Assistant Matron of Wovenu Senior High Technical School (WOSSETS), are in police custody for allegedly diverting food supplies meant for students in the Ketu North Municipality.
Madam Doris Foli (Assistant Matron), her sister Ms. Perfect Foli, and Sergeant Bernard Amegbor of Dzodze Police Headquarters were apprehended around 0630 hours Wednesday at Tadzewu Zongo by Assembly Member Mr. Patrick Meli Atippoe and community members.
Arrest Details
Mr. Atippoe told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) the suspects were intercepted transporting assorted food items – bags of rice, cooking oil, sardines, and other provisions – reportedly intended for WOSSETS students.
A subsequent search of Madam Doris Foli's nearby residence uncovered additional diverted supplies. The trio was handed over to Dzodze Police for investigation.
Official Response
Rev. Martin Amenaki, Ketu North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), confirmed the incident, stating:
"Food supplies provided to our schools are meant exclusively for the welfare and nourishment of our students. Any attempt to divert, misappropriate, or abuse such resources is unacceptable and will not be tolerated."
The MCE visited Dzodze Police Station to ensure due process and announced a task force to monitor second-cycle institutions against similar incidents.
School Context
WOSSETS Headmaster Mr. Michael Kwami Dzeble had previously cautioned the Assistant Matron over similar reports circulating since last year.
