Accra, Feb. 20, – Government will not go beyond its proposed limit of 60 ministerial appointments, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has stated.
Contributing to discussions on the floor of Parliament on Friday, Mr Ayariga stressed that the administration intends to honour the commitment it made prior to assuming office.
He indicated that suggestions that the number could increase were unfounded and described attempts by the Minority to question the pledge as politically motivated.
According to him, keeping the ministerial list within the stated threshold reflects government’s broader objective of promoting responsible governance and controlling public expenditure.
Debate over the size of the executive has long featured in Ghana’s political space, with advocacy groups and opposition lawmakers consistently calling for a streamlined government to ease pressure on the national budget.
