Goaso (Ahafo), Feb. 24, – Ahafo Regional Police Command has apprehended three young men for allegedly possessing firearms without lawful authority and for preparing to commit robbery.
The suspects – Johnson Mawutor, 26; Kelvin Ofori, 22; and Mawuli Dogba – were intercepted by the Ahafo Regional Taskforce patrol along the Ayomso-Goaso road on Monday, February 22, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m.
According to a statement signed by James Annor, Mawutor and Ofori were riding an unregistered motorbike and attempted to evade police by switching off the headlights, but were pursued and arrested.
A search revealed an AK47 assault rifle with 29 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag. A subsequent search of Mawutor’s residence in Abrodanho, a suburb of Goaso, uncovered additional weapons including:

30 rounds of 19mm ammunition

50 rounds of AK47 ammunition

Four Motorola handsets

One machete

One Contiso F35 drone

One Bionette knife
Preliminary investigations indicated that Mawutor, Dogba, and an at-large suspect, Mohammed Adinan Ussif, obtained the weapons from Techiman in the Bono East Region. Authorities are continuing efforts to arrest Ussif and any other accomplices.
The police assured the public of their commitment to maintaining safety and encouraged community members to provide credible information to aid ongoing investigations.
