Accra, June 8,– The Federation of
International Football Association (FIFA) has placed 90-day ban on Mr. Kwesi
Nyantakyi, Council Member of the international football controlling body,
following a recent expose by ace journalist Ana Aremeyaw Anas.
The ban comes into force
immediately.
The decision was taken upon the
request of the chairperson of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee
carrying out the formal investigation proceedings into Mr Nyantakyi, pursuant
to art. 83 par. 1 and art. 84 par. 2 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.
According to the Ethics Committee
of FIFA, Mr. Nyantakyi is provisionally banned from all football related
activities.
According to FIFA, the ban may be
extended for another 45 days.
A statement from FIFA said,
during this period, Mr. Nyantakyi is banned from all football activities at
both national and international level (administrative, sports or any other).
