Accra, May 6 - Ghana Post Company
Limited has called on the public to download and generate their respective
digital address of their homes and businesses.
The company has also urged the
public, organisations, identifiable groups, schools, churches and all other
stakeholders to invite them to organise training on the activation of the
system and the generation of digital addresses.
In a statement signed by Kobi
Hemaa Osisiadan-Bekoe, the Corporate
Communications Manager, and issued to the Ghana News Agency has said.
It said: "Since the launch
of the National Digital Property Addressing System in October 2017, by the
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Digital Addressing System is
providing an effective means of addressing every location and property to
facilitate the implementation of key government policies.
"The Digital Address is a
mandatory requirement in getting the National Identification Card (Ghana Card)
as well as other services."
According to the statement, every
digital address generated from the system is unique to each property and has a
maximum of 11 alpha-numeric characters which reflect region, district and post
code for example GA -183-8164.
It said the App, GhanaPostGPS
could be downloaded from Google Playstore or Appstore.
"Following the prompts on
the app, it will help you install and generate your address," it said.
The statement mentioned that the
Chief of Staff on March 7, 2018 issued a directive to all Ministries,
Departments and Agencies as well as Metropolitan and Municipal District
Assemblies to adopt the digital address as the official address system for the
delivery of government services and contracts.
It noted that the Chief of Staff
further directed that digital addresses should reflect on all official
correspondence of government institutions.
Ghana Post Company is an
institution responsible for postal services in Ghana and a member of the West
African Portal conference.
