Accra, March 25, - Ghana’s
contingent to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, has moved to the Games
Village after a successful ten-day pre-games camping at the Ramada Hotel in
Queensland.
The contingent, was made up of
athletes and technical team from eight disciplines, medicals and officials from
the Commonwealth Games Federation of Ghana.
The team was met on arrival at
the Games Village by the Chef de Mission, Mohammed Sahnoon and Operations
Manager of Team Ghana, George Owusu Ansah.
Ghana would be lodging at the
Sunset Apartment at the Games Village and also at some of the selected
Townhouses at the village.
An operational office and a
semi-medical centre has also been allocated to the team.
The team would be expecting
athletes from swimming, shooting, weightlifting, para-cycling and athletics at
the village on Monday, to complete w for Ghana to have her full complement of
athletes for the games.
Team Ghana moved to Australia
about 10 days ago to acclimatise and also have their final pre-games
preparation for the Commonwealth Games which is expected to start on April 4,
2018.
Hockey, athletics and
para-athletics team trained at the Runaway Sports Super Centre while the
badminton trained at the Sky Badminton Centre in Brisbane.
The table tennis team also
trained at the Gold Coast Table Tennis Centre with weightlifting training at
the Powerlifting Training Centre (PTC) at Queensland.
Ghana’s cyclists were guided
through their routes by Project Ghana Cycling of Australia and the boxers also
at the Brisbane gym.
