Accra, March 12, – An Accra
Circuit Court has remanded five persons over conspiracy to commit crime and
robbery.
The accused persons, who pleaded
not guilty, are Yakubu Sumaila 24 years; Issahaku Mutala, 24; Imoro Lukeman
Anya, 24 years; Fatau Ussif, 30; and Ali Hanan, 20.
They are to reappear on March,
26.
Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo,
told the Court, presided over by Aboagye Tandoh, that the complainants in the
case were Mohammed Sualisu, Chairman Old Fadama Northern Renaissance; Abudakari
Salifu, Alhassan Suleman and Alhassan Issahaku, all Scrap dealers; and Abdul
Kyansi, a trader.
He said for some time now, the
accused persons and their leader; Yakubu Alidu, alias Bullet, and some others numbering about 20,
who were currently at large, had been terrorising the complainants and the
residents of Agbogbloshie and its environs.
He said on February 24, 26 and
27, this year- between 2130 hours and 0130 hours, the accused persons and their
leader, armed with cutlasses, sticks and guns, attacked the complainants and
collected various sums of money amounting to GH¢4,070.00 and four mobile phones
from them.
The Prosecution said the
complainants and the inhabitants of the area reported the case to the Old
Fadama, Northern Renaissance, who wrote a petition to the Regional Police
Commander.
Chief Inspector Dosoo said on
February 28, the complainants identified the accused persons to the Police and
they were arrested.
In their caution statement, the
accused persons, however, denied the offence.
