Suhum (E/R), Feb 08, – Two men arrested over the alleged theft of a
100 kilo-volt-ampere (kva) transformer, the property of the Electricity Company
of Ghana, have been remanded in police custody by the Suhum Magistrate Court.
Enoch Tetteh and Eric Brusah have
been charged with causing unlawful damage, stealing and influencing a public
officer.
The pair pleaded not guilty and
would make their next appearance on Thursday, February 15.
Police Superintendent Joseph
Owusu, the Suhum District Commander, told the court presided over by Ms. Naomi
Akyiano, that the accused were caught with the stolen transformer at Okroase.
They had disassembled the
electrical device and it was being carried in a KIA Pride taxi with
registration number GR 2672 – 11.
He said when the police patrol
team intercepted the car and questioned how they came by it, they readily made
a bribe offer of an undisclosed amount of money but that was rejected and they
were arrested.
