Accra, Jan.10, - The Ghana Hockey
Federation (GHF) through its President Mr. Richard Akpokavie has lauded the
sponsors of the various clubs participating in the upcoming African Cup for
club championship (ACCC) slated for the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch from
20th-28th January, 2018.
Mr. Akpokavie at a press
conference today was full of praise for the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Revenue
Authority (GRA), Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) for their
immense contribution to their teams.
“The various clubs are being
sponsored by institutions and they have sponsored their teams to various
tournaments and this tournament as well.
“Institutions like the Police
Service, GRA, and SSNIT have their teams playing in this tournament and have
fully sponsored their training and all they needed and it’s time we appreciate
their efforts for the wonderful work they are doing.
“Through their sponsorship they
are promoting hockey in Ghana and bringing hockey closer to the people of
Ghana,” he added.
This year’s tournament, which is
the 30th edition and the fourth time being hosted by Ghana would see in the
males’ category the GRA Hockey team and the Trustees Hockey team battling it
out with clubs from Egypt and Nigeria, with the GRA and Police Hockey female
teams coming face to face with clubs from Kenya and Nigeria.
Ghana has successfully hosted the
Annual Hockey Championship in 1995, 2002 and 2010.
