Accra, Jan. 30, – An Accra
Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded four persons into Police custody for
conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.
The accused persons are Hope
Tagborlo, 29 years, Ibrahim Mohammed, 23 years, Aminu Bawa, 27 years and
Mohammed Amin Musah, 43 years.
The accused persons, who pleaded
not guilty would reappear on February 8.
Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent
of Police (DSP) Mawuenyo Nanegbe, told the court that complainant was a legal
practitioner and resident of Lakeside Estate.
He said on November 3, 2017 at
about 2230 hours, the complainant returned home and was about to park her
Mitsubishi Pajero vehicle, when the accused persons surfaced.
He said the accused persons
including two others now at large, who had laid ambush, armed themselves with
AK 47 rifles and locally manufactured pistols attacked the complainant.
He said the accused ordered the
complainant to surrender everything in her possession and they robbed her of a
wedding gold ring valued at £150.00, gold sapphire ring valued at $150.00, gold
bracelet values at GH₵3,000.00,
iPhone 7 plus valued at GH₵6,200.00,
Techno phone valued at GH₵300.00
and Bulava wrist watch valued at £200.00.
The total items stolen running
into thousands of cedis.
The Prosecution said Ibrahim,
then took control of the vehicle and with the other accused drove off.
He said on January 3, 2018,
Ibrahim was traced to Tamale where he was arrested in his house with the
vehicle, he then named the other accused as his accomplices.
Further investigations led to the
arrest of Hope on January 5 this year and again on January 15 when an
identification parade was conducted a witness identified Ibrahim as the person,
who drove away the complainant’s car on the day of the robbery.
DSP Nanegbe said on January 22,
Bawa and Musah were also arrested at their hideout in Agbogbloshie and Zongo
junction respectively.
He said one Alhassan Yussif,
another accomplice was also arrested by the Kasoa Police for a different
car-jacking incident and that, he was yet to be handed over to the Criminal
Investigative Department headquarters for investigations.
During interrogation, the accused
persons admitted to be part of an ongoing car-jacking syndicate and they have
tabulated a number of car-jacking committed by them within the Accra
Metropolis.
Investigations are still underway
to apprehend the other accomplices.
