Accra, Dec. 22, - The
Governing Council of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has refuted two
allegations stating that the Rector, Dr Wilberforce S. Dzisah is ‘Under probe
over procurement infractions; and ‘Has been asked to proceed on leave.’
A statement signed by Mr Perry K.
Ofosu, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, described the stories as “in
correct” saying they did not represent the position of the Council.
It explained: “Rather, Dr
Wilberforce Dzisah, …voluntarily notified his management team and the Chairman
of the Council of his intention to take part of his annual leave from
Wednesday, 27th December , 2017 and to resume duty on Thursday, 1st February,
2018.
“This, is in his view is to allow
for a smooth investigation of some concerns raised, including academic
integrity and procurement practices.
“It must be noted that, nowhere
in the statement setting-up an investigative committee was the rector accused
of indulging in procurement infractions or academic dishonesty.”
