Ejisu (Ash), Dec 22, – The Ejisu
Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has discounted the reported
abduction of a member of the party, labeling the purported incident as a “cruel
hoax”.
It has therefore called for
thorough police investigations by to expose the lies and dishonesty of those
behind it.
This was contained in a press
statement issued and jointly signed by the acting Constituency Chairman, Mr.
Samuel Oduro Frimpong and the Communications Officer, Mr. Alexander Owusu.
“The facts are inconsistent with
the kidnap tale, we are being told and the accusations made against two
officers of our party.”
The statement added that “it is
part of an evil political plot by people known to be doing everything to
replace the sitting Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, with
Mr. John Kumah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship
and Innovation Plan (NEIP).
“Why would anybody want to abduct
Mr. Osei Kwaku, what is the motivation and for what purpose – we simply do not
get it”.
It gave details about what
actually happened and said the man playing victim, had rather assaulted and
seized a party’s register compiled by one of its agents from him and this was
brought to the notice of the Research Officer and the Deputy Organizer, who
happens to be a junior brother of the MP.
The pair’s immediate response was
to approach Osei Kwaku to ask for the return of the document.
He told them that it had been
sent to Onwe, the hometown of his preferred candidate for the MP position, and
offered to lead them to the place to retrieve same.
The statement said it turned out
to be a wild goose chase and realizing that he was not ready to give back the
register to them, the two left, and this took place in broad day light.
“Suddenly, it was all over the
place that Osei Kwaku, has been kidnapped and Ejisu came under virtual siege.”
“We do not have anything against
anybody contesting for any political office they qualify to hold but we have
everything against mischief, bad political conduct, anything toxic, tasteless
and not noble.”
It asked that those seeking for
elective positions demonstrated high level of honesty and moved away from
childish pranks that tended to create needless tension and distraction in the
party.
