Court adjourns Fiapre toll booth case

Sunyani, Feb 16, - The Sunyani District Court “A”, presided over by Mr. Jojo Amoah Hagan, on Thursday adjourned the case in which two men are standing trial for setting fire to a toll booth at Fiapre.

Mark Tetteh and Bismark Baafi, are facing a charge of causing unlawful damage to state property and they have both pleaded not guilty. 

They would be making their next appearance on Monday, March 13. Tetteh is on a GH₵100,000.00 bail, with two sureties, and has been made to deposit GH₵10,000.00 with the court as part of the bail conditions. 

Baafi, on his part, is on GH₵3,000.00 bail, with two sureties. The adjournment was at the instance of the prosecutor, Police Sergeant Christian Y. Sethorglo, to allow for a report from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). 

Tetteh, the assembly member for Dumasua, in the Sunyani West District, is alleged to have led a mob to burn the booth immediately after the declaration of the outcome of last December 07 election by the Chairperson of Electoral Commission. 

A cashier of the Ghana Highways Authority made a formal report to the police and he handed himself in. Baafi was later apprehended during police investigations.
