Newmont Contributes GH₵12.8 Billion in Taxes and Levies in 2025



Sunyani, March 19, – Newmont Corporation paid GH₵12.822 billion in taxes and statutory contributions to the Government of Ghana in 2025, reinforcing its position as a top contributor to national revenue.

According to a statement by David Johnson, Director of Communications and External Relations, Africa, the breakdown of payments included:

Corporate Tax: GH₵5.382 billion
Mineral Royalties: GH₵1.628 billion
Carried Interest: GH₵1.832 billion
Capital Gains Tax: GH₵3.025 billion (from the sale of the Akyem Mine)
PAYE Tax: GH₵514 million
Withholding Tax: GH₵434 million
Forestry Levy: GH₵15 million
Property Rate: GH₵2 million

Beyond statutory contributions, Newmont invested in community development, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure. In partnership with the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the company rehabilitated the 46 km Sunyani–Ntotroso–Akyerensua highway to improve connectivity, road safety, and local economic growth.

Newmont also supported the national Tree for Life initiative, aimed at reclaiming degraded land, restoring forests, and promoting environmental sustainability.

Mr. Danquah Addo-Yobo, Country Manager for Newmont Ghana, said: “Our fiscal contributions, environmental stewardship, and support for local businesses demonstrate our commitment to responsible resource development. Transparency in statutory payments reflects our strong governance principles.”
