Tarkwa Porter Gets 18 Months for GH¢3,500 Theft

Tarkwa (W/R), Feb. 13, – Eric Essuman, a porter known as "Nzema," was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour by Tarkwa District Magistrate Court Two for stealing GH¢3,500 from trader Rose Kpabi at the main lorry station.

The court convicted Essuman on his guilty plea to unlawful damage and stealing before Magistrate Isaac Osei Asare.

Police Sergeant Adwoa Yeboah recounted that on January 13, 2026, around 3:30 a.m., Ms. Kpabi, from Twifo-Praso, woke while sleeping near the Railway Station Mosque to find Essuman cutting her GH¢150 dress with a blade.

As she grabbed for him, he escaped. She later discovered the cash theft. A witness identified "Nzema," leading police to arrest him that day at a nearby ghetto hideout. He was handed to Railway Police Station.
