Accra, Feb. 12, – The Accra Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged arson attack at Grace Mountain Ministry located at Seven Days, Ofankor, in Accra.
The suspect, Kesse Okyerewaa Koranteng, is currently in custody assisting with investigations.
A statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, revealed that preliminary findings indicate the suspect unlawfully entered the church auditorium carrying a liquid substance in rubber containers.
The suspect allegedly sprinkled the substance throughout the hall and set it ablaze with matches, triggering a fire outbreak.
Items destroyed in the blaze include:
Air conditioners
Chairs and windows
10 offering boxes
Ceiling materials
Electrical cables
Parts of the lighting system
Police officers who visited the scene recovered four rubber containers believed to have been used in the offence.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and security, urging residents to report any suspicious activities to the Police immediately.
