NDPC TO ENGAGE STAKEHOLDERS NATIONWIDE ON GHANA’S GROWTH ROADMAP

Accra, Feb. 12, – The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) has scheduled a comprehensive nationwide consultation from February 18 to March 27, 2026, to deliberate on the country’s long-term development prospects.

The initiative, led by Commission Chairman Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, aims to capitalize on recent macroeconomic gains—characterized by a stabilizing cedi, rising gold revenue, and significantly lower inflation—to build a more resilient national economy.

According to a statement from the Commission’s Public Relations, the consultations come at a strategic time as Ghana prepares to conclude its IMF-supported programme later this year. The government’s objective is to transition from current fiscal stability toward a model of diversified, job-intensive growth.

A primary focus of the discussions will be the Ghana Infrastructure Plan (GIP). Launched in October 2025, the GIP is intended to serve as the foundational blueprint for the country’s physical and economic expansion over the coming decades.

The statement noted that the NDPC team will visit all 16 regions to engage with Regional Coordinating Councils and traditional authorities. These sessions will be followed by high-level dialogues with political parties and parliamentary leadership to ensure broad-based support for national policies.

Key topics on the agenda include a proposed policy and legislative almanac, results-based management strategies, and an analysis of how global economic trends affect Ghana’s domestic goals.

Dr. Thompson will be joined on the tour by the Commission’s Director-General, Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, along with senior policy analysts and regional coordinators.
