Accra, Feb. 12, – Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) projects slower economic growth for 2025, driven primarily by weakening industrial performance, particularly in oil and gas production.
Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu announced this while releasing the November 2025 Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG), noting Q4 activity remained positive but slower than 2024.
Sector Performance (November 2025 vs 2024)
Overall Growth: 4.2% (down from 7.1%)
Industry: 0.4% growth (vs 6.2% in Oct 2024) – 41% decline, mainly extractives
Services: 6.7% growth (down from 10.2%) – contributed 57.7% to total
Agriculture: 4.1% growth (up from 3.8%) – fisheries/crops led gains
Dr. Iddrisu warned the pattern across all sectors suggests Q4 GDP may miss government targets, complicating IMF programme fiscal goals.
"Growth continues, but momentum has eased," he stated. Full Q4 GDP data releases March 2026 with December MIEG.
