Accra 06 May - Mr. Patrick
Johnson, the General Secretary of Ghana’s most powerful governing and
sanctioning boxing body, the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) is now the
Association of Professional Boxing Commission's (APBC) Vice Chairman for the
Association's regional board in Africa.
The Ghanaian workaholic has held
the administrative affairs of the GBA so diligently and perfectly to the extent
that the fast rising of the Ghanaian boxing economy is half credited to him and
his outfit which is headed by the astute legal luminary, in the person of Lawyer
Peter Zwennes.
This portfolio comes as no surprise
at all taking into accounts his prowess in four other sporting disciplines;
namely Boxing, Disabled and Para Sports, Table Tennis, Shooting and Mixed
Martial Arts.
The APBC is a Non-Governmental
Organisation (NGO) through which the Commissions that regulate the Sport of
Professional Boxing World-wide are able to cooperate and discuss issues that
affect the sport, as well as introduce regulations for the betterment of the
Sport. Membership includes those that compete and especially those within the
realms of Licensing and Medical Standards, Ringside Health & Safety,
Sanctioning and Competition Rules & Regulations.
Whilst full membership to the
APBC is limited to Professional Boxing Commissions, Associate Membership is
open to all license holders from the World of Professional Boxing, whether an
Official, Manager, Promoter, Matchmaker, Coach, Boxer as well as Championship
Boxing Organizations, Boxing Equipment manufacturers etc because their inputs
are vitally important, especially within the realm of regulation and health and
safety.
The APBC is a very respectable
organisation which houses astute boxing gurus like Gianluca Di Caro, SWAG best
referee Roger Barnor, Professor M.J. Graham, Former Irish Champ Lee Murtagh and
a host of other knowledgeable pugilism personalities and to officially bring on-board
one of Ghana's finest boxing administrators in the person Mr. Patrick Johnson
only depicts the repository of knowledge based personalities within this noble
fraternity.

your appointment as the APBC's vice chairman for Africa.
