Accra, Jan.17, -The team manager
of Sharkia Hockey team from Egypt, Khaled Saied has said his club is well prepared
and in shape to win the upcoming Africa Cup for Club Championship (ACCC),
slated at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey pitch in Accra from 20th to 28th January,
2018.
Saied’s team Sharkia, who would
be playing their first game against the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) male
hockey team at 6:30 pm on Saturday 20th January made this known after the
Egyptians arrived in Ghana on Wednesday.
Saied in an interview with GNA
Sports at the Kotoka International Airport, said his team is prepared and
poised to win the trophy at stake.
“We have prepared for this
championship very well and we are determined to win this tournament and all the
players have trained hard to get here.
“They are all ready to give out
their best to win this year’s ACCC and no team can stop them from attaining
their set target”.
Saied noted with optimism though
his team has not made it to the championship in the previous two seasons.
“Though we have not been in the
championship for the last two years, the players have insisted they would use
that as a motivation to win this year’s edition and the technical team have so
much trust in them” he added.
On a club posing a threat to
their ambitions, Saied said “I know the Eastern Club of Egypt and Trustees
Hockey club of Ghana would pose a major threat, but we would make sure to give
our all to win”.
The Sharkia hockey team has won
the African Championship Hockey League on 23 occasions, with 12 consecutive
African titles, a sports record in the Encyclopaedia of World Sport.
