Accra, Dec 3, - Mr Abraham Ossei
Aidooh, a Former Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs has
appealed to women loyalists of the New Patriotic Party in Tema West
constituency to work hard to bring more people on board.
According to him, Ghanaian women
were on the verge of a new dawn with President Akufo-Addo’s intents at
affirmative Action, set to empower women even more.
Mr Aidooh, who is credited with
introducing and nurturing the NPP in Tema West stated this during the
commemoration of the first anniversary of the Tema West Noble Ladies in Tema
Community 5.
He pointed out that the Noble
Ladies would also benefit a lot from the plans of President Akufo-Addo who has
already won an international award for his pro women policies.
He said government was keen on
getting the Affirmative Action Bill passed, even as President Akufo-Addo had
consciously appointed women to high profile positions in his government,
including Chief Justice and Attorney General.
He urged the members of the group
to re-dedicate themselves to the ideals of the NPP and work extra to win the
2020 election with an even bigger margin in Tema West and the country as a
whole.
In 2012, the NPP won the Tema
West seat with 900 vote margin, but widened the gap in the 2016 polls by 16,
000 votes.
According to the renowned lawmaker, who is now
a board member of the Ghana Gas Company, the increase in the margin was due to
hard work that the party loyalists, including the Noble Ladies put into the
campaign and urged them to work extra hard so that in 2020, the margin of the
win for the NPP would further widen.
Also in attendance was Felix
Mensah Nii Annang-La, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Edward
Mantey, Constituency NPP Chairman, Mr Henry Osei Owusu, former constituency
secretary, the NPP’s Greater Accra
Women’s Organizer, Joyce Dampaare and Kwesi Poku Bosompem, Assemby Member for
Halcorow Electoral Area, among others.
Madam Dampaare, who was one of
the main speakers at the event re-echoed the promise of Lawyer Abraham Aidooh
to the effect that President Akufo-Addo and the NPP had good intentions for
Ghanaian women.
Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La, the Tema MCE donated
GHC 2,000 to the Noble Ladies group and also urged them to maintain their
loyalty to the party and work harder for greater victory in 2020.
Madam Gloria Naa Adarkwa Darku,
an executive member of the Noble Ladies thanked Lawyer Abraham Ossei Aidooh for
accepting to host the programme as Chairman.
On his track record, she said the
Noble Ladies were humbled to have the respected former MP for Tema West, who
had represented the Constituency for three terms in Parliament on the NPP’s
ticket and they would take his advice in good faith to win more votes for the
NPP in the 2020 election.
