Accra, Nov. 27, - Black Starlets
captain Eric Ayiah has been nominated for the 2017 Confederation of African
Football (CAF) award slated for Ghana on 4th January, 2018.
Ayiah, who plays for Division two
side, Charity Stars FC and captained the Starlets at the just ended Federation
of International Football Association (FIFA) Under-17 World Cup tournament in
India, has been nominated in the youth player category alongside four others.
According to a release, the
winners would be decided by votes from the members of the CAF Technical &
Development Committee, CAF Media Experts Panel and Independent Media and TV
Consultants.
The National Under-20 female
team, Black Princess, have also been nominated in the national female teams’
category alongside the Nigeria U-20 female team, Kenya, South Africa and
Zimbabwe.
The other categories include
Women’s Player of the Year, National Team of the Year (Men & Women), Youth
Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year and Referee of the
Year, with only members of the CAF Referees’ Committee will elect the Referee
of the Year.
