Tema, Dec. 22, — The Tema Regional Police Command has shot and killed three suspected robbers during an operation to thwart an attempted robbery at Community 24 in the Adjei-Kojo area under the Ashaiman Division.

A statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Regional Police Command, said the incident occurred at about 0130 hours on Sunday, December 21, 2025, following intelligence received by the Ashaiman Divisional Police Intelligence Team about an ongoing robbery at a private residence.

According to the statement, a police patrol team was promptly deployed to the location, where officers encountered six young men wearing face masks and hooded clothing and armed with machetes, firearms and other offensive implements.

“The suspects opened fire on the police, who responded accordingly. In the ensuing exchange, three of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds and were later pronounced dead, while the remaining three, believed to have been injured, fled the scene,” the statement said.

Police recovered three face masks, three machetes and an unregistered Royal 125 motorbike from the scene.

The statement indicated that the bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy.

Health facilities within the jurisdiction have been notified to alert the police through emergency contact lines should any male persons report with gunshot wounds.

The Tema Regional Police Command commended personnel involved in the operation and appealed to the public to continue providing timely intelligence to support crime prevention and ensure public safety.
